About Us | Awaaz Afghanistan
Awaaz Afghanistan is an UN-operated Inter-agency Communications and Accountability Center (ICAC) managed by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). Established in 2018, it is Afghanistan’s first nationwide, toll-free humanitarian helpline, connecting people in all 34 provinces through the number 410. Awaaz provides confidential access to trusted information, referrals, and support, enabling communities to safely share feedback, concerns, and complaints.
Through two-way communication with aid providers, Awaaz strengthens accountability, transparency, coordination, and the quality and responsiveness of aid delivery. It provides verified information on available services, systematically captures and follows up on community feedback, and refers eligible callers to appropriate partners, supporting improved service delivery.
In times of emergencies and natural disasters, Awaaz serves as a trusted source of timely guidance and life-saving information, helping affected communities navigate available services safely and efficiently.
Since 2018, Awaaz has handled 667,425 calls, reaching over 4.6 million people, including 20% female callers. Approximately 89% of calls were resolved on first contact, and 99% of callers reported satisfaction with the service. Awaaz has also trained 7,433 frontline staff, managed 18,338 feedback and complaint cases through its referral platform, signed over 250 cooperation agreements, and supported accountability efforts through wide-scale information and monitoring activities.
Operating seven days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM, with female and male operators, Awaaz offers a safe, confidential, and accessible platform that connects communities with aid providers and supports more inclusive and effective assistance across Afghanistan.
